Cape Coral Council Meets Monday: a Four Freedoms Park Monument and a 10-Year Trash Franchise Lead the Rest of the Agenda
Beyond the utility and Costco votes already in the news, Monday's 4 p.m. meeting takes up the future of Four Freedoms Park's historic nomination and who will haul Cape Coral's trash for a decade starting in 2027.

The Cape Coral City Council meets at 4 p.m. on Monday, November 2, in council chambers at 1015 Cultural Park Boulevard, and two items beyond the day's headline utility votes will shape the city for years. The meeting is open to the public.
Resolution 314-26, set for a public hearing, would decline to accept the October 7 nomination of Four Freedoms Park as a historic and/or cultural resource — while directing city staff to collaborate with the Cape Coral Historical Society to design and construct a historical monument for placement in the park instead.
The council will also take up Ordinance 64-26, which would approve the ranking and award of an exclusive solid waste, recyclables and bulk collection franchise to FCC Environmental Services Florida LLC. The contract as introduced runs 10 years from October 1, 2027, with an option to renew for one additional five-year term, and a public hearing is set for November 18.
