One More Beach Lot Closes Sunday: What Fort Myers Beach Parking Looks Like on November 1 (Fort Myers Watch News)

Sunday beachgoers lose one more place to park. The lot at Bonita Beach Access #1, at 27890 Hickory Boulevard, closes on November 1, 2026, according to the fall beach guide compiled from Lee County's park pages — the beach itself stays open to people on foot, and the access remains the walk-in route to Bonita Beach Park, whose own lot and amenities are already closed for Hurricane Ian rebuilding.

Bonita joins a long rebuild list. Lee County closed the lots at Bowditch Point Park and Little Hickory Island Beach Park and began restoration work across several beach parks on September 8, 2026, with most projects expected to take about 11 months. Lynn Hall Memorial Park, the Times Square beach, has been closed since April 6, 2026, for new boardwalks, shelters, lighting and an elevated restroom, and the county expects it back in late April or early May 2027 with a 146-space lot. At Bunche Beach Preserve, boardwalk repairs that began October 1 run into January 2027, though beach access, restrooms and the kayak launch stay open.

What still parks depends on who runs the lot. Town of Fort Myers Beach spaces and accesses cost $5 an hour plus a 25-cent service fee, enforced daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Lee County beach lots cost $2 an hour, paid by license plate, and the county's $60 annual parks parking pass is honored at Bunche Beach, Bowman's Beach and Turner Beach — but not at Lynn Hall or Bonita Beach Park. The cheapest full beach day may be the free one: LeeTran's Beach Park and Ride on Summerlin Square Drive holds more than 125 cars for free, and the 75-cent Beach Trolley, Route 490, runs straight to Crescent Beach Family Park — the 2.25-acre park at the foot of the Matanzas Pass Bridge that reopened on July 29 with restrooms, showers and pavilions, next door to the closed Lynn Hall.
