Bonita Springs Unveils Banyan Square Splash Pad, Just in Time for Halloween Night (Fort Myers Watch News)

The City of Bonita Springs officially unveiled its Banyan Square and Splash Pad on Thursday, October 29, with a ribbon cutting at 7:30 p.m. at 27381 Old 41 Road, the News-Press reported. The new amenity is designed, the city said, to give families and children a fun and welcoming place to cool off and enjoy the outdoors in downtown Bonita Springs.

The splash pad brings together 74 lights and nozzles, according to the city. During daytime 'play fountain' hours, water sprays reach up to six feet; for evening performances, water surges up to 20 feet through nozzles that can be controlled individually or in groups, producing dynamic spray effects and sculptural water patterns. Colorful lighting illuminates the water for shows choreographed to music, synchronized with 54 additional lights on the banyan tree and four on the oak tree, with four 360-degree speakers around the fountain's perimeter.

The first fountain show has been choreographed for the city's Happy Haunts Halloween Stroll: guests can see the 10-minute Halloween spectacular nightly during the stroll, which started October 22 and runs through Saturday, October 31. The splash pad uses an integrated filtration and chlorination system comparable to those found in community pools, the city said.
