Halloween day in Fort Myers starts early and runs late. The Fort Myers Police Department hosts the Ghost of the Coast 5K and one-mile fun walk at Eastwood Golf Course at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, with costume awards and finish-line treats benefiting the department's Police Athletic League youth programs, according to the Southwest Florida newsletter's weekend listing. The Fall Festival at Edison and Ford Winter Estates runs 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with craft vendors, food and music, and Southern Fresh Farms' Fall Festival runs 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with hayrides, a pumpkin patch and food trucks.

After dark, the annual Haunted Walk at Calusa Nature Center and Planetarium runs 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, at $20 to $25, while the Alliance for the Arts' Stage Fright Nights run through Saturday at $15 to $20, the News-Press reported. In Cape Coral, Terror on 20th — a private home transformed into a haunted house at 2812 SW 20th Ave. — runs guided tours 7 to 10 p.m. on Halloween night only, free with a canned-food donation for the Harry Chapin Food Bank. On Fort Myers Beach, Margaritaville's Monster Bash runs 7 to 10 p.m. with live music and a costume contest.

For families still deciding on a costume, Google's 2026 Frightgeist list, reported by WFTV on October 30, puts Buddy the Unicorn — the bright orange unicorn from the 2026 horror film Buddy — at the top of the nation's most-searched costumes, followed by Needoh and Nikki from 'Obsession,' with Dolly Parton the top kids' costume. In Bonita Springs, the city's Happy Haunts Halloween Stroll runs through Saturday, with a 10-minute Halloween fountain show nightly at the new Banyan Square splash pad. Buckler's Fall Craft Fair, with more than 175 vendors at Mike Greenwell Regional Park in North Fort Myers, runs Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
