Everblades Get an Immediate Rematch Saturday Afternoon in Greenville After Their First Loss
Less than a day after falling 5-4 for their first loss of the season, the Florida Everblades face the Greenville Swamp Rabbits again at 2:05 p.m. Saturday at Bon Secours Wellness Arena.
The Florida Everblades do not have to wait long for their answer. Less than a day after Greenville handed Florida its first loss of the season, 5-4, on Friday night, the two South Division teams meet again at 2:05 p.m. Saturday at Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville.
Friday's game turned on special teams and a late winner: Greenville scored twice on the power play — the first team to score multiple power-play goals against Florida since the Kelly Cup Finals, according to the Everblades — and Blake Bennett's second goal of the night, with just over eight minutes left in the third period, stood as the winner after Isaac Nurse had tied the game at four early in the third.
Florida has now lost three straight games in Greenville, a streak Saturday's rematch can end. Devon Paliani and Broten Sabo each extended their point streaks to five games in Friday's loss, and the Everblades outshot Greenville 12-5 in the third period on Friday — pressure they will look to carry into the matinee. The game-night file follows the final in the next cycle.
