Trump Closes the Midterm Campaign in Iowa and Kansas, With One Last Pitch Set for Monday in Washington
The president spent the final Sunday of the campaign in two states his party usually counts as safe, defending narrow congressional majorities - and, in Iowa, he praised the Democrat who crossed over to endorse Michigan's Republican Senate nominee.

Washington - President Donald Trump closed out the final weekend of the midterm campaign on Sunday with back-to-back rallies in Dubuque, Iowa, and Salina, Kansas, two Republican-leaning states where his party is fighting to hold U.S. Senate seats two days before an election that will decide control of Congress, Reuters reported.
The Iowa rally ran about two hours before Trump moved on to Kansas, where Air Force One performed a flyover before landing for an outdoor rally at Salina Regional Airport, according to the Associated Press report of the event. His Kansas speech lasted nearly 90 minutes and ended shortly before 10 p.m. Eastern, with Trump asking Kansans to pretend he is on the ballot and to get out and vote, USA Today's live coverage reported.
In Iowa, Trump also praised Michigan Rep. Haley Stevens, calling her endorsement of Republican Senate nominee Mike Rogers 'brave' and urging her to join the Republican Party, USA Today reported. Stevens, who lost a Democratic primary to Abdul El-Sayed, endorsed Rogers on Sunday after attending a Detroit church service with him - the cross-party move the AP led its overnight summary with, and which Fort Myers Watch News staged first in its previous cycle.
The geography tells the story of the Republican position heading into Tuesday: Republicans hold the Senate 53-47 and a narrow House edge, with 35 Senate seats and all 435 House seats on the ballot, and the president's final in-person stops came in states he has won comfortably before. More than 54 million votes had already been cast before Election Day, the AP reported. Trump is scheduled to give his closing pitch of the midterms on Monday at the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool in Washington.
