FGCU Women's Basketball Opens Tuesday at Indiana, Picked Even With Jacksonville Atop the ASUN
The league's coaches could not separate the Eagles from the defending champions - 58 points apiece in the preseason poll. The argument starts Tuesday night in Bloomington and comes home to Alico Arena on Saturday.

Fort Myers - The ASUN's coaches are calling the women's basketball race a dead heat between defending champion Jacksonville and Florida Gulf Coast, and the Eagles open the season that settles it on Tuesday, Nov. 3, at Indiana, with tip-off at 7 p.m. Eastern at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall in Bloomington.
JU and FGCU tied for first in the ASUN coaches' preseason poll with 58 points apiece. Three Eagles made the preseason All-ASUN team - Sinai Douglas, Eve Alexander and Denika Lighthouse - giving FGCU as much top-end recognition as any roster in the league heading into opening week.
The road opener is the hard part of the week's draw: a Big Ten arena on the season's first night. The home part follows quickly - FGCU's home opener is Saturday, Nov. 7, against Arkansas State at 2 p.m. at Alico Arena, billed by FGCU Athletics as the Hometown Home Opener, with a post-game poster signing with the players.
Between the men's opener at UCF on Monday and the women's first two games, Dunk City's full basketball calendar is running by the weekend - and for the women, the preseason poll says the conference race they are entering has no favorite, only co-favorites.
