Cape Coral Lands $4,041,984 State Grant for Reclaimed-Water Infrastructure
Cape Coral has been awarded $4,041,984 through Florida's Alternative Water Supply Grant Program for reclaimed-water infrastructure, water conservation and the city's irrigation needs — one of 22 cities selected statewide.

Cape Coral has landed $4,041,984 in state funding through Florida's Alternative Water Supply Grant Program, the city announced October 29. The fiscal year 2026-27 award is earmarked for reclaimed-water infrastructure and expanding alternative water supplies, supporting the city's efforts to conserve water and meet its considerable irrigation needs through reclaimed water use.
Cape Coral is one of just 22 cities selected to receive funding through the program. The city's award is part of $100 million awarded for 45 projects statewide through the Springs Restoration and Alternative Water Supply grant programs, according to the city.
What the money builds is not yet fixed. The city will coordinate with the state to finalize how the funding will be applied to eligible infrastructure improvements, and no specific construction sites or timeline have been announced. In a city of canals where landscaping and water supply are year-round concerns, the award moves water reuse from an environmental idea to a funded utility project.
