The Florida Highway Patrol said the sedan left eastbound I-10 near mile marker 178 late Saturday morning, struck an overpass pillar and caught fire. The driver, the only person in the car, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Gadsden County — A 23-year-old Chattahoochee man was killed Saturday when his car veered off Interstate 10, struck an overpass pillar and burst into flames, according to the Florida Highway Patrol, as reported by the Tallahassee Democrat.
The single-vehicle crash happened at about 11:50 a.m. on Saturday, October 31, on eastbound I-10 near mile marker 178, FHP said. The man was the only person in the sedan. According to the patrol's preliminary investigation, the sedan was traveling east when, for a reason that remains unknown, it left the roadway to the left and struck the overpass pillar.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. FHP did not release his name in its report, and this desk does not publish a victim's name until officials release it; the patrol said his next of kin had been notified. The report lists his seat-belt use as unknown.
The crash remains under investigation, FHP said. Gadsden County EMS, the Gadsden County Sheriff's Office and Gadsden County Fire Rescue assisted the patrol at the scene.
