FGCU Soccer's Championship Saturday: Women Play for the ASUN Crown at Stetson, Men Play for Their Postseason Lives
Win at Stetson at 4 p.m. and the FGCU women clinch their 13th ASUN regular-season championship. The men, at Jacksonville at 7 p.m., need a win — and help — to reach the ASUN Tournament.

The FGCU women travel to DeLand on Saturday with the simplest formula in sports: beat Stetson at 4 p.m. and the Eagles clinch their 13th ASUN regular-season championship. FGCU sits atop the ASUN table with 20 points, one ahead of North Florida, at 6-1-2 in the conference and 9-2-5 overall — and a win would be the program's 10th of the year, its 19th straight full season in double figures.
The Eagles have been the ASUN's best attack all season, with a league-high 30 goals in 16 games, and they have history on their side: 11 straight wins over Stetson and a 20-1-1 all-time edge in the series. Captain Lily Borders anchors a back line that has posted seven shutouts this season and, according to FGCU's campus magazine, she has missed just four minutes all year. Anything but a win, and FGCU will need help from North Florida's result to take the crown.
The men face the harder road at Jacksonville at 7 p.m. in their regular-season finale. FGCU's tournament path depends first on the afternoon's Queens–Bellarmine result: a Queens win gives the Eagles a win-and-in game, while a draw means FGCU must win and also have Lipscomb beat North Florida. Aron Martinez, who scored twice in FGCU's 2-2 draw with Stetson, leads the ASUN in goals, shots and shots on goal. Jacksonville is 6-6-2 overall and beat FGCU 2-1 in last season's finale.
