Gulf Middle School Makes It Seven Straight Years as a Florida School of Excellence
Cape Coral's Gulf Middle School has been named a Florida School of Excellence for the seventh consecutive year — a streak running from 2019-20 through 2025-26 that, according to Lee County Schools, no other public middle school in the county has matched continuously.

Seven years is long enough to stop being a surprise and start being a standard. Gulf Middle School in Cape Coral has been named a Florida School of Excellence for the seventh straight year, Lee County Schools announced — a run of designations covering the 2019-20 school year through 2025-26.
The streak sets Gulf Middle apart in its own county. According to the school district, it is the only public middle school in Lee County to hold the School of Excellence distinction continuously across that span — through a pandemic, through Hurricane Ian's disruption of every campus in the county, and through the rebuilding years since.
For Cape Coral families, the designation is the state's recurring verdict that the school keeps performing at the top of Florida's accountability measures year after year, rather than in a single strong season. The 2025-26 designation extends the streak to seven; the next class of Gulf Middle students now inherits the job of making it eight.
