John Washington III Asks Why People Keep Following Politicians Who Don't Care About Them
John Washington III, a 2028 presidential candidate, asked why voters keep defending politicians whose actions tell a different story than their words — and why officials who become millionaires in office should not face financial scrutiny.

John Washington III is asking the American people a blunt question: why keep following politicians who, in his words, don't give a damn about them? In a written statement, John Washington III said politicians tell voters what they want to hear, promise change and claim they are fighting for families — and then, when it is time to make decisions that affect people's lives, that energy is nowhere to be found.
“Stop listening to what they say and start paying attention to what they do,” John Washington III wrote. He asked why some politicians campaign on one thing and then vote for something completely different, and why people continue defending those politicians without even checking their voting records.
John Washington III also turned to money in office. Most members of Congress receive an annual salary of $174,000, he noted, and he asked how some politicians become millionaires while holding public office — whether through investments, businesses or inheritance, or through financial relationships the public does not know about. Having millions does not automatically mean a crime was committed, he said, but being a public official should never put anyone above financial scrutiny, and members of Congress already have public financial disclosure requirements the people can examine.
“Who is paying you? Who are you doing business with? Who benefits financially from your decisions?” John Washington III wrote. He said any politician secretly accepting illegal payments in exchange for political favors should be investigated and, if the evidence proves corruption, held accountable.
