Lee County's High School Student of the Week Poll Is Open Until Thursday at 5 P.M.
Nominees from Oasis, Bishop Verot, Fort Myers High and South Fort Myers High headline this week's ballot, in the News-Press poll run with Lee County principals.
Fort Myers - Lee County's High School Student of the Week poll opened again on Monday, with this week's nominees drawn from high schools across the Fort Myers area and voting running until 5 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 5. The winner is announced Friday, Nov. 6.
The News-Press runs the recognition through the 2026-27 school year in collaboration with Lee County principals, who put forward the outstanding students from their schools. This week's nominees named in Monday's announcement include Lachlan Fiechthaler of Oasis High School, Ethan Yhlen of Bishop Verot High School, Kalani Terrell of Fort Myers High School and Fabiola Barraza George of South Fort Myers High School.
The rhythm is a weekly one: nominees are announced on Mondays, the interactive poll stays open through Thursday afternoon, and each Friday's winner joins the school year's running list of honored students - a small, steady piece of recognition infrastructure in a county whose high schools otherwise meet mostly on playing fields.
Readers vote in the News-Press's online poll. Fort Myers Watch News will note the winner when Friday's announcement lands.
