Love Sanibel Back Fills the Recreation Center on Sunday, With a Student Art Show at Its Heart
The island's community gathering runs noon to 2:30 p.m. Sunday at its new home, the Sanibel Recreation Center — free, with hot dogs, an ice cream bar, booths from island organizations and a 1 p.m. program led by the Seahorse Chorale.

Sanibel is spending Sunday afternoon together. The Love Sanibel Back community gathering runs from noon to 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 1 at the Sanibel Recreation Center, 3880 Sanibel-Captiva Road — free and open to everyone, and hosted by St. Michael's Church, according to the announcement carried by the City of Sanibel.
This year the gathering has a new home and a new centerpiece. The move to the Recreation Center brings more room and more parking, with the city's support, and the afternoon features a 'What I Love About Sanibel' art show created by Sanibel School students — sea turtles and shorebirds, bike paths and beaches, and the places that make the island home, drawn by the island's own kids. Around it: hot dogs by A Bit of Bailey's, an ice cream bar, cookies and a candy tower provided by Pinocchio's Original Italian Ice Cream, community booths from organizations across Sanibel and Captiva, craft activities, door prizes and a photo booth.
At 1 p.m., a short program features the Sanibel School Seahorse Chorale and Mayor Mike Miller. The organizers' invitation is simple: bring your family, bring a neighbor, and come celebrate the island — an afternoon built by sponsors including the City of Sanibel, the Charitable Foundation of the Islands, Florida Trust Wealth Management, BreakAway Vacation Properties, Periwinkle Park and Bank of the Islands.
