One day of campaigning is left in the race to succeed Ron DeSantis, and both campaigns spent it the same way - in front of crowds, in Florida's biggest metro corridors.
Tallahassee - Florida's governor's race reached its final full day of campaigning on Monday, with Republican Byron Donalds rallying alongside fellow Republicans in Town 'n' Country, in the Tampa suburbs, while Democrat David Jolly held a rally in Miami, according to 10 Tampa Bay's Election Eve coverage.
The two men are contesting the right to succeed Gov. Ron DeSantis, who is term-limited. Donalds, a congressman from Naples, is Southwest Florida's own candidate in the race; Jolly is a former Republican congressman running as a Democrat. FOX News's midterm watch guide framed the contest as a fight over affordability, immigration and the direction of state policy - the same ground the two campaigns have contested through the fall.
The rallies closed a final weekend that polling showed within a few points either way, and they landed on a day when Florida's early-vote file was already complete: more than 5.16 million ballots cast before Election Day, with Republicans holding a lead of about 155,000 ballots in the final tally Fort Myers Watch News reported Sunday.
Polls open at 7 a.m. Tuesday across Florida and close at 7 p.m. local time. The governor's race shares the ballot with the state's three Cabinet offices, a U.S. Senate contest and the congressional races that will help decide control of Congress in Washington.
