Election Day Weather in Fort Myers: A Warm 82, a Light Drizzle Chance, and a Dry Late Week Behind It

The station's live feed gives Fort Myers an Election Day high of 82.7 with only a 29 percent chance of light drizzle — no washout for the 7-to-7 voting day — before a mostly dry, warm late week takes over.

Election Day Weather in Fort Myers: A Warm 82, a Light Drizzle Chance, and a Dry Late Week Behind It (Fort Myers Watch News)

Fort Myers wakes up on Election Day to voting weather, not storm weather. Late Monday night the station's live feed showed 70.4 degrees, feeling like 74.9 under partly cloudy skies, and Tuesday's forecast is a high of 82.7, a low of 70.3 and a 29 percent precipitation chance in the form of light drizzle (weather code 51) — the kind of day where the early voters at the 7 a.m. poll opening may feel a few drops and the evening line, which any voter in line by 7 p.m. joins, should be dry more often than not. Nothing on the Fort Myers feed threatens the voting day itself.

Wednesday turns cloudier — overcast (code 3), a high of 83.1, a low of 69.3 and the week's highest rain chance at 48 percent — before the pattern settles. Thursday is mainly clear with a high of 86.9 and an 18 percent chance, Friday is back to 86.2 with the rain chance down to 1 percent, and Saturday is mainly clear at 85.5, again at 1 percent. Sunday eases to 83.3 with a 9 percent chance, and by next Monday the feed shows the week's coolest night, a low of 63.6 behind a high of 79.9.

The contrast with the inland counties is the night's real weather story: while Fort Myers votes under a warm, mostly dry sky, the Peace River system an hour north is at major flood stage under an extended National Weather Service warning, with the Arcadia crest still days away on Thursday. Election Day in the city itself asks for nothing more than a light layer for the morning and, at worst, a small umbrella you will probably not open.
