Lee County's New I-75 Shortcut Opens Monday: Three Oaks Parkway Reaches Daniels Parkway

Lee County's New I-75 Shortcut Opens Monday: Three Oaks Parkway Reaches Daniels Parkway (Fort Myers Watch News)

South Fort Myers drivers get a new way around Interstate 75 on Monday. Lee County will cut the ribbon on the Three Oaks Parkway Extension at 10 a.m. on Monday, November 2, just south of the new Fiddlesticks Boulevard intersection, and the new section opens to traffic right after the ceremony, according to the county.

The extension carries Three Oaks Parkway across the Fiddlesticks Canal to Daniels Parkway, completing a corridor the county describes as critical north-south relief for I-75 — a major arterial running from Daniels Parkway south through Estero and Bonita Springs and into Collier County. The project is a Tier 1 Capital Improvement priority for the Board of County Commissioners. The new roadway is four lanes divided, with two 11-foot lanes in each direction, a 5-foot bike lane and 6-foot sidewalks on both sides, and the roundabout at Fiddlesticks and Old Fiddlesticks — already open — circulates traffic to the Publix shopping center there.

The opening is not the end of the work. Motorists will still see crews in the area after Monday: at Daniels Parkway, the Three Oaks Parkway/Palomino Lane intersection improvement is finished once restriping is done, and Daniels itself has been widened to eight lanes from Danport Boulevard to Apaloosa Lane and Powers Court, with all eight lanes opening after final paving and striping. The county's original contract completion date was mid-2028; the project is substantially ahead of schedule, with final completion now expected in early 2027.
